The following are organisations and charities that can offer you independent advice and assistance to deal with your debt and other problems.

  • Step Change - registered charity which assists people with free debt advice
  • Christians against Poverty (CAP) - a national debt counselling charity
  • National Debtline - gives advice to people with debt within England. Scotland & Wales
  • Debt Action NI - offers free, confidential and impartial debt and money advice within Northern Ireland
  • Advice4DebtNI -  Government funded, independent debt advice for the people of Northern Ireland
  • Money Advice Scotland - acts as a portal to free and impartial money advice agencies in Scotland
  • Consumer Direct - provides consumer advice
  • Citizens Advice Bureau - helps people resolve their legal, money and other problems 
  • Community Legal Advice - provides advice on legal rights through Legal Aid. You can download a “Dealing with Debt” fact sheet from their website
  • The Insolvency Service -  provides advice to the public on insolvency and redundancy matters
  • Legal Services Commission - The Community Legal Service (CLS) is a network of organisations that funds, provides and promotes civil legal services. The CLS helps with problems such as family breakdown, debt and housing
